The RESNET training is provided to the candidates who pass the national online test. They learn about the fundamental ideology of a building science, insulation equipments thermal resistance capacities, minimum rated features for buildings, they also learn about the procedures that are required for checking the blower doors and duck leakages. RESNET HERS rater training curriculum also comprises of many other lessons such as discrepancy in construction types and their corollaries, types and efficiencies of windows, heating, cooling, water heating, and lighting systems, types of space conditioning and types of thermostatic controls, characteristics of domestic hot water distribution systems. The Rater candidate is also taught how to determine the azimuth, air leakage and fuel to be used.
The other necessary aspects such as Utility rate structures, On-site inspection procedures, constructing a scaled and dimensional drawing of a home and calculating the area of triangles, rectangles, ovals, circles and permutation of these shapes, the volume of boxes, pyramids, spheres, and other geometric shapes, entering data into a home energy rating software program. They are also taught how to communicate the benefits of the energy saving measures and practices to the consumer. After clearing the final review of their performance they would be qualified to provide a RESNET certification.
